Panama Metro Subway near our Spanish School
In 2012 Panama started working on the Metro Subway System, or, has Panamanians call it, Metro. The metro more recently started the first stage of its Line 2, which connects to places like Altaplaza Mall, Rommel Fernandez Stadium, and soon, it will also be able to connect with Tocumen International Airport.
Line 2 of the metro opened on January 2019 for World Youth Day as Pope Francisco was here, and all the pilgrims agreed; “The metro is punctual, modern, comfortable and fast”. This new line has the capacity to carry 16,000 passengers on rush hours.
Near Spanish Panama Language School, there are the Via Argentina and the Iglesia del Carmen stations. You can reach either one of them within a 5 to 10 minutes walking distance. These two stations are part of Line 1, and through them you can hit the other metro line.
As Panama City is quite small, the transportation in metro is convenient if you want to get to the places in a shorter amount of time and avoid traffic. Since the metro costs only 0.35¢ per trip, you have easy cheap access across major parts of the city.
