There are miles of pure green, a place to exercise, rest and play at the same time, all close to Spanish Panama Language School, and with a lot of activities around the year like concerts, festivals, yoga, Zumba classes and more. Definitely, the best place in the city for watching the clouds pass by, the sun setting and a starry night with full moon. Some people call this place “the lungs of the city”.
I am talking about Omar Park, placed on Via Porras, in Panama City. This park used to be a Golf Club but it was turned into a park by the General Omar Torrijos in 1973.
This park has football, basketball, tennis, baseball and volleyball courts. It also has a pool, skate park, little stores, a cabin and even a library.
Here at Spanish Panama we want our students to connect with the environment in order to have a better learning experience. This is why, we think that Omar Park is a good place to fulfill that mission.
On this Park, our students interact with the locals and practice Spanish, also, they can go to the library and read books of Panamanian and Latin-American authors. For our students, this park is also a good place to study by themselves.
If you want to have a perfect moment on Omar Park, you need to remember the sunscreen for the days and the mosquito repellent for the nights. Also, is almost obligatory to buy one of the most famous refreshing Panamanian treats called “raspado”. This treat is made with grated ice and you can put all kinds of sweet flavors on top of it.
The best hour to go is early in the morning and in the afternoon when sun goes down.
Is important to say that the entrance for this park only cost the effort you make on going to it, yes, is totally free. And don´t worry, pets are allowed too.
From Spanish Panama Language School to Omar Park an Uber can take you for 2.50 dollars.
