Good news: Calle Eric de Valle has new sidewalks the length of our building on both sides of the street! The entrance to our school and to the accommodations face this street from opposite sides and close to via Argentina.
To our great delight, the city has installed a new sidewalk in front of our building. Tree roots had broken the previous walkway, making it uneven and dangerous.
Each time it rained, a puddle formed at a low place forcing people to walk out in the road. Those people who were not paying attention, walked right into the puddle which was deep enough to pour water into their shoes. Squish-squish! On-lookers might think it funny but the water could ruin the shoe. That would not be fun. Now there is a drain in place that allows water to escape. No more puddle.
Wise pedestrians watch carefully where they walk. I make it a point to avoid any metal access cover that is in the sidewalk, even if it looks solid, because it might be rusted and not hold your weight. You are responsible for where you place your foot. Dog poo might be messy but a twisted ankle hurts. Be aware.
Most of the sidewalks along via Argentina are safe but those along the back streets can be in poor repair. Now our walkway is as good as those along the main road.
