“Carols by Candlelight” A new Christmas tradition in Panama
Joseph Ennis of Spanish Panama Spanish school with Canada Plus club supporting Fundacion Calicanto
Thousands of Panamanians and foreign residents of Panama turned out on December 3rd for “Carols By Candlelight”, an international event that first began in Australia and will now become a Panamanian tradition. It was a beautiful site with 8 Panamanian choruses singing Christmas carols on the steps of INAC (Panama’s cultural center), and in front France’s embassy. This is also a strong signal of a cultural revitalization of Panama’s colonial city of “Casco Antiguo”.
Carols By Candlelight was put on by the Canada + Club of Panama. Spanish Panama school held a vital role in providing much needed volunteers and support for this first year.
Proceeds for the event went to Fundacion Calicanto, a charitable organization for women and children from broken homes. The amazing choruses involved were Fundacion Danilo Perez Ensemble, Cantus Panama, Opera Panama, Coro De Ninos Juntos Podemos, Coro de Colegio Brader, G-Harmony, Coro Rendicion, and Instituto Nuestra Snra De Fatima.
“Carols By Candlelight” is still a great international celebration in Panama. We look forward to going again in 2019.
